team to the Tulare County Fair, which was in financial and organizational
crisis. Created a business continuity plan designed to resolve

return the fair to organizational stability and financial solvency.

and production of the Santa Barbara Holiday Faire, a new event
in conjunction with the Santa Barbara National Horse Show to bolster

Agricultural Associations Strategic Plan including on-site
orientation and training, facilitation of process workshops

organizational assessment, refinement of the fair's mission,
vision, value statements, and development of long-range goals.

a new event in 2000 designed to provide a family-oriented hands-on
farm experience to urban families at a farm newly acquired by
the Hansen Trust which is administered by the UC Cooperative Extension

Agricultural Learning and Conference Center at that site. |

Provided on-site fair-time assessment of core business functions
including attendance patterns; operations and accounting; sponsorship
analysis and relative benefits to the fair; contracting procedures
and administration; grandstand entertainment; and carnival and
concessions operations. This assessment and the resulting report
provided the fair with a detailed analysis of the effectiveness
of strategies already implemented from the Business Continuity
Plan, and measured current operations against other strategies
included in the plan but not yet initiated.

Provided on-site interim management and transition of the organization
for six months following removal of the CEO and other key employees.
Already struggling in disarray and operating under intervention
oversight by F&E, the removal of these employees and the
causes for their removal created a variety of crisis management
needs including investigation, legal and audit coordination;
preparation for the Great Western Livestock Show less than two
months away; management of day-to-day operations; ongoing implementation
of the Business Continuity Plan strategies; and recruitment,
hiring and training of interim and permanent staff including
a new CEO.
